One of those weeks 🥵
No fresh content today I'm afraid... but we've warmed up our yummiest leftovers for you 🥘
Maxime and I are both travelling at the moment, and when that happens, it becomes a bit too ambitious to also keep tracking all those deals, and to write a weekly newsletter. It doesn’t mean we’ll stop though, but please bear with us as we prepare more content… By the way, this is Post number 76… Can you believe it?!
While you wait for next week, here is some content I’m sure you’ll enjoy rereading (or reading for the first time if you’ve joined us recently):
Our quarterly analyses: Not just the latest Q3 2022 post, but the previous ones as well, which make for an interesting trip down memory lane. Going back in time: Q2/H1 2022, Q1 2022 (our most visited post ever with 7.7k unique views🥇), and in 2021: Q4 (actually, more of a focus on the full year), Q3, Q2/H1, and Q1 (our very first post, if you don’t count the teaser)
Our regional breakdowns: Back in June-July, we published a series of regional maps covering each one of the five key regions: Western, Northern, Eastern, Southern and Central Africa. Fun fact: the Central Africa map has been the most visited one of the lot… and is our second most read post of all times🥈
Our foci on investors: Because no start-up would be raising if there weren’t investors to bet on their success, these include analyses on the most active VCs (the last one is from September, but we had run similar analysis back in March, and in September last year), but also on where they are based, and how active ‘African’ investors are being. We did a post focused on YC start-ups as well actually, and we’d love to bring you more of those if you’re interested.
I think that should keep you quite busy for now, but because we like to get feedback from you - as well as to test new Substack features -, here is a little poll to help us stay as relevant as possible:
We hope you’ll forgive us for not bringing you the freshest of content this week, but the past few days have been quite a ride. We’re not the only ones who can create content btw: we encourage you to do your own analysis and share it with us! Our database of 2019-2022 deals - now worth a combined $12bn+ - should keep you busy for a while once you get started. You can download it here, at a discount. See you next week!
