Your Ultimate 2022 Wrap-Up 🌯
All our analysis on start-up funding in Africa in 2022, available in one place
With twelve blogs published over the past two months, we thought it was safer to share a little summary of all the analysis we’ve published on 2022 start-up funding in Africa, just to make sure you didn’t miss any of it. Let’s go, shall we?
First of all, we covered key trends for 2022, as well as a summary of how 2022 unravelled. I also summarised key 2022 insights in my quarterly column for the NTU-SBF Centre for African Studies.
Once the scene was set, we cut the data by key sub-region (including a quick look at the Big 4 vs the ‘Rest of Africa’ on Linkedin) and also analysed the numbers by sector, and by gender of the CEO/founding team.
We then zoomed out a little to compare Africa’s performance to other continents’, before publishing our most popular post ever (to date) on the top investors in Africa over the 2021-2022 period (including this visual for social media we’ve loved to see pop up in so many places).
Last but not least, we dived deeper into each region with our 2022 Map series covering Western, Northern, Eastern, Southern, and Central Africa.
As you can see… We’ve been busy! But all the positive feedback we’ve received has made it totally worth it :)
All the data behind these analyses can be found in our deals database - updated monthly! - , which contains $13+ billion’s worth of deals dating back to 2019, painstakingly collected by Maxime and Elodie. If you want it, you can pay full price of course (it’s less than $10/month), but you can also get it here at a discount ;)
